The Challenge
PowerFlow Trade is an innovative company specializing in renewable energy trading and the optimization of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), active in both local and international electricity markets. Despite their strong market presence, the company faced several operational challenges that were hindering scalability and efficiency:
Extensive manual labor required to aggregate data from multiple sources
Time-consuming financial calculations
Manual generation of acts, invoices, and related documentation
These tasks not only consumed valuable human resources but also increased the potential for errors and delays.
The Solution
To address these challenges, we developed and implemented a fully digital, automated system tailored to the needs of PowerFlow Trade.
Key components and technologies:
Automated Data Aggregator - integrates directly with Sadales Tīkls and Nordpool electricity exchange APIs to collect and structure data, storing it securely on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Backend Framework: Built using Python Django, ensuring a robust and scalable application architecture
Infrastructure Management: Provisioned and maintained using Terraform, enabling reliable and repeatable deployments
The system performs real-time data acquisition, processes complex financial calculations, and automatically generates invoices and reports - dramatically reducing manual effort.
The Results
The digital transformation led to a dramatic boost in operational efficiency and accuracy for PowerFlow Trade. Previously, tasks such as weekly data entry, monthly reporting, Excel report preparation, and final PDF compilation amounted to over 2 hours of manual work per reporting cycle. With the new system in place, all of these processes are completed automatically in under 2 minutes.
This translates to an efficiency improvement of more than 50 times. In addition, automation has significantly minimized the potential for human error, bringing error rates close to zero. By eliminating repetitive tasks and streamlining workflows, the company has been able to redirect human resources toward strategic initiatives and growth opportunities, supporting their vision of becoming a leading player in the renewable energy trading market.
